"Salvage" - the rescue of a wrecked or disabled ship or its cargo from loss at sea.
"Salvage material" - Salvaged or reclaimed building materials are materials that are recycled for reuse. They originate from buildings that have been deconstructed, rather than demolished.
"Selvedge edge" - an edge produced on woven fabric during manufacture that prevents it from unraveling.

As this pandemic stretches on, I find some of my interpersonal relationships strained by diverging worldviews. I yearn to build bridges that seem impossible, and find fertile common ground with members of my community again.
My yearning finds expression in the language of collage, through method and materials. The collage process allows me to physically tear apart, salvage, and recombine materials. I utilize materials that have inherent meaning, such as book covers from decommissioned library books, and vintage stereograph cards, which were originally used to convey a unified 3-D view of a place or a moment in history by overlapping two views from slightly different perspectives. The process of collage results in an object that is unified and whole, providing a way forward in hope.
